I Love the Love Dress, I photographed the lovely Sam wearing this special dress….
The Love Dress is Red Thread’s first special edition dress. It was designed to support a Canadian charity that transforms the lives of youth who have great potential but few resources in one of Africa’s worst slums.
The dress features a simple A-line cut in a deep blue floral print, with two vibrant intersecting red lines. The design echoes a Chinese proverb about the interconnectedness of all humans, even across oceans: “An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet regardless of time, place or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle but it will never break.”
$5 from the sale of each dress will be donated to Canada Mathare Education Trust (CMETrust), a secular, volunteer-run, registered Canadian charity. Founded in 2006, the charity currently funds 45 high school scholarships for children from the Mathare Valley slum in Nairobi, Kenya, where most of its 800,000 residents live on less than a dollar a day.
